Poker in Buenos Aires
Hi folks,
The Floating Casino is my second home in Buenos Aires while I coordinate Moto shipping details to Oz. The games are great, the players are fun and poker is definitely on the rise here. The cardroom just expanded from 3 tables to 5 and the action is ferocious. Fewer grinders and more recreational risk takers than North America.
On the downside the rake is 5% and is not capped. In a heads up confrontation your pot odds are 1.9 to 1. Don't bother with marginal hands here or the house will eat your bankroll. The games are profitable because many players here are new to the game. Fifteen hands per hour would be optimistic with all the admin and overhead with counting pots for rake and oversight by management to change money for chips. Staff are professional and spanish only during a hand is fairly strictly enforced.
It is a good game and will only get better once they figure out that more hands per hour means more money in rake. Casino Madero presently spreads 5-10, 10-20 and 25-50 (pesos)no limit holdem. There was a 6000 peso pot last night in the 5-10 game so fasten your seat belt and hang on for the ride. I am getting my game in shape for the Aussie Millions in Melbourne but do not expect the games to play like they do here. So far so fun.
Time to go visit my moto and prep for shipping.
Cheers
